1268 — Al-Firyābī also narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Walīd Hishām ibn ‘Ammār al-Dimashqī narrated to us, saying: Al-Walīd ibn Muslim narrated to us, from Ibn Lahī‘a, from Abū al-Aswad Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahmān, from ‘Urwa, from ‘Ā’isha, who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said, “A servant from among the servants of Allah, Glorious and Exalted, was given the choice between this world and what is with his Lord, and he chose what is with his Lord, Mighty ⦗1807⦘ and Majestic.” Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him—wept, realizing that he meant himself. The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—then said, “Close all the doors opening into the Mosque except the door of Abū Bakr, for I know of no one whose companionship has been a greater favor to me than that of Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him.”
