1259 – Abū al-Qāsim Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Azīz al-Baghawī also narrated to us; he said: Abū Bakr Muhammad ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Zanjawayh narrated to us; he said: Abd al-Razzāq narrated to us, from Ma‘mar, from al-Zuhrī, in his narration from Urwa, who said: Some men from among the polytheists hurried to Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him—and said, “This companion of yours claims that he was taken ⦗1800⦘ to Jerusalem last night and then returned that same night.” Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him—said, “Did he say that?” They replied, “Yes.” Abū Bakr said, “Then I bear witness that, if he said it, he has certainly spoken the truth.” They said, “You believe him when he says that he went to the Levant in a single night and returned before morning?” Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him—said, “Yes. I believe him concerning something even more extraordinary than that: I believe him when he brings news from heaven morning and evening. It was for this reason that Abū Bakr was called al-Siddīq (the Utterly Truthful)—may Allah be pleased with him.”
