1258 – Qāsim ibn Zakariyyā al-Mutarriz narrated to us; he said: al-Qāsim ibn Saīd ibn ⦗1799⦘ al-Musayyib ibn Sharīk narrated to us; he said: Alī ibn Āsim narrated to us, from al-Jurayrī, from Abū Nadra, from Abū Saīd al-Khudrī—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: Abū Bakr said to Alī ibn Abī Tālib—may Allah be pleased with them both—“You know that I embraced this faith before you did.” He replied, “You have spoken the truth, O successor of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.” He then extended his hand and pledged allegiance to him. When al-Zubayr—may Allah have mercy on him—came, Abū Bakr said, “Did you not know that I embraced this faith before you did?” He then extended his hand and pledged allegiance to him.
