Chapter: Mention of the Virtues of Abū Bakr and Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both
Muhammad ibn al-Husayn—may Allah have mercy on him—said: Allah is to be praised in every circumstance. May Allah bless Muhammad, the Prophet, and his family, and grant him peace.
Know—may Allah have mercy on us and you—that we have already mentioned the virtues of the Emigrants and the Helpers, as well as the virtues of the Ten, foremost among whom are Abū Bakr and Umar. Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him—also had virtues unique to him, which we shall mention, if Allah Most High wills. Abū Bakr and Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both—shared certain virtues, so we shall mention the virtues of them both together. Umar—may Allah be pleased with him—also had virtues with which Allah, the Most Generous, distinguished him. We shall mention them, if Allah wills, according to what has reached us. Allah is the One who grants success.
