1208 — Abū Bakr Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Wāsitī narrated to us: Yaqub ibn Ibrāhīm al-Dawraqī narrated to us: I heard Abd al-Rahmān ibn Mahdī say, “Had Uthmān—may Allah be pleased with him—possessed no virtues besides these two, they would have sufficed him: his compilation of the Quranic codex and his sacrifice of his own blood to spare the blood of the Muslims.”

It is also narrated from Jundub that Hudhayfa—may Allah have mercy on him—said, “They have already marched against him, and by Allah, they will surely kill him.” I asked, “Then where will he be?” He replied, “In Paradise.” I asked, “And where will his killers be?” He replied, “In the Fire, by Allah.”
