1207 — Abū Bakr Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Wāsitī also narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Rizq Allah al-Kalwadhānī narrated to us, saying: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us. He said: Al-Masūdī informed us, on the authority of al-Qāsim ibn Abd al-Rahmān, on the authority of Abd Allah ibn Masūd (may Allah have mercy on him), who said:
“Umar ibn al-Khattāb’s embrace of Islam was a source of strength, his emigration was a victory, and his caliphate was a mercy. By Allah, we could not pray openly until Umar embraced Islam. I firmly believe that there is an angel before Umar’s eyes who guides him aright. Whenever the righteous are mentioned, Umar should be mentioned first.”
Muhammad ibn al-Husayn (may Allah have mercy on him) said ⦗1745⦘: Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) possesses virtues in the sight of Allah, His Messenger, and all the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), which we shall mention in their proper place, if Allah wills.
