1180 — Abū Bakr Abd Allah ibn Abī Dāwūd also narrated to us, saying: Ibrāhīm ibn al-Hasan al-Miqsamī narrated to us. Ibn Abī Dāwūd said, “We recorded it from no one but him, and my father used to inquire about him.” He said: Al-Hajjāj ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Hammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Alī ibn Zayd, from Abd al-Rahmān ibn Abī Bakrah, who said: We came with Ziyād as a delegation to Muāwiyah, may Allah have mercy on him. When we entered his presence, he said to my father, “Abū Bakrah, relate to us a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.” He replied, “I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: ‘The caliphate will last thirty years; thereafter, there will be kingship.’”
