1179 — Ibrāhīm ibn Mūsā al-Jawzī also informed us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ishkāb narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Awn narrated to us, saying: Hushaym narrated to us, from al-Awwām, from Saʿīd ibn Jumhān, from Safīnah, the freedman of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The caliphate among my nation will last thirty years.” He said: They counted that period and found it to be so. Muhammad ibn al-Husayn, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The hadith of Safīnah has numerous chains of transmission.
