1178 — Umar ibn Ayyūb al-Saqatī narrated to me, saying: Uthmān ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Yazīd ibn Hārūn and Hushaym ibn Bashīr narrated to us, saying: Al-Awwām ibn Hawshab informed us, saying: Saʿīd ibn Jumhān narrated to us, saying: I heard Safīnah say: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The caliphate among my nation will last thirty years.” We then calculated the years and found that they comprised the caliphates of Abū Bakr, Umar, Uthmān, and Alī—may Allah be pleased with them.
