1172 – Al-Firyābī narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Muhammad al-Nāqid narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Nadr Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim narrated to us, saying: Shaybān Abū Muāwiya narrated to us, from Abū Ya‘fūr, from Yazīd ibn al-Hārith al-Abdī, who said: Saīd ibn Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufayl came to Kufa and entered upon al-Mughīra ibn Shuba, who was then governor. He made room for him beside himself, and Saīd said: “I testify that I heard Abū Bakr al-Siddīq, may Allah be pleased with him, say to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ‘If only I ⦗1700⦘ could see a man destined for Paradise!’ He replied, ‘I am destined for Paradise.’ Abū Bakr said, ‘I was not asking about you. I already know that you are destined for Paradise.’ He then said, ‘I am destined for Paradise; you are destined for Paradise; Umar is destined for Paradise; Uthmān is destined for Paradise; Alī is destined for Paradise; Talha is destined for Paradise; al-Zubayr is destined for Paradise; Sad is destined for Paradise; and Abd al-Rahmān is destined for Paradise.’” Saīd added, “Had I wished, I could have named the tenth.” He was told, “I adjure you to name him.” He replied, “It is I”—meaning Saīd ibn Zayd.
1173 – Abū Bakr Qāsim ibn Zakariyyā al-Mutarriz narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Uthmān ibn Karāma narrated to us, saying: Ubayd Allah ibn Mūsā narrated to us, from Shaybān, from Abū Ya‘fūr, from Yazīd ibn al-Hārith al-Abdī, who said: Saīd ibn Zayd came to Kufa and entered upon al-Mughīra ibn Shuba. He then related the same as the hadith of al-Firyābī.
