1164 – Ibn ‘Abd al-Hamīd also reported to us. He said: al-Fadl ibn Ziyād ⦗1688⦘ reported to us. He said: ‘Abd al-Samad ibn Yazīd reported to us. He said: I heard al-Fudayl ibn ‘Iyād say: “Love for the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ is a treasure I am storing up for myself.” Then he said: “May Allah have mercy on whoever invokes mercy upon the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ. Yet all of this is only truly good when accompanied by love for the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ.” He said: I also heard al-Fudayl say: Ibn al-Mubārak said, “There are two qualities which, if a person possesses them—truthfulness and love for the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ—I hope that he will be saved and remain safe.”
