1161 – Ibn ‘Abd al-Hamīd also reported to us. He said: Ya‘qūb ibn Ibrāhīm al-Dawraqī reported to us. He said: Hakkām ibn Salm al-Rāzī reported to us, from ‘Amr ibn Abī Qays, from ‘Abd Rabbih, who said: We were with al-Hasan in a gathering. He spoke for a while and mentioned ⦗1686⦘ the Prophet’s Companions (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: “Those Companions of Muhammad had the most righteous hearts of this nation, the deepest knowledge, and the least affectation. They were a people whom Allah, Almighty and Majestic, chose to accompany His Prophet and uphold His religion. So emulate their character and their ways, for, by the Lord of the Ka‘bah, they followed the straight guidance.”
