1150 – Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd also reported to us: Muhammad ibn Musaffā reported to us: Yahyā ibn Sa‘īd reported to us, from Shaybān ibn ‘Abd al-Rahmān, from Mansūr ibn al-Mu‘tamir, from Shaqīq ibn Salama, from ‘Abd Allāh—meaning Ibn Mas‘ūd—who said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), “Which people are best?” He replied, “My generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them.”
