1143 — Abū Ahmad Hārūn ibn Yūsuf narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abī Umar ⦗1674⦘ narrated to us, saying: Bishr ibn al-Sarī narrated to us, saying: Hammād ibn Salama narrated to us, from Thābit, from Anas, who said:

“Abū Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) rode behind the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) during the migration. Abū Bakr knew the route, whereas the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) did not. Whenever they passed by some people, they would ask, ‘Abū Bakr, who is this young man in front of you?’ He would reply, ‘He is guiding me on the way.’

“When they drew near Medina, they stopped at the Harra and sent word to the Ansār. They came to him and said, ‘Proceed, safe and obeyed.’

“Anas said: By Allah, I have never seen a day brighter, more radiant, or more beautiful than the day Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) entered our city, nor have I seen a day darker or more dreadful than the day the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) died.”
