1100 — Abū ʿAbd Allāh Ahmad ibn al-Hasan ibn ʿAbd al-Jabbār al-Sūfī narrated to us, saying: Sulaymān ibn ʿUmar al-Raqqī narrated to us, saying: ʿĪsā ibn Yūnus narrated to us, from Rushdayn ibn Kurayb, from his father, from Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning the words of Allah Almighty, “Perhaps your Lord will raise you to a station of praise” [al-Isrāʾ: 79]. He said: “The station of praise is intercession.”

Muhammad ibn al-Husayn—may Allah have mercy on him—said: As for Mujāhid’s report concerning the distinction of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and his interpretation of this verse, namely, that He will seat him ⦗1613⦘ upon the Throne, the leading scholars among those possessing knowledge and transmitting the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—received it in the best manner and accepted it most favorably. They did not reject it; rather, they vehemently condemned anyone who rejected Mujāhid’s report and said, “Whoever rejects Mujāhid’s report is a wicked man.”

I say: Our position—praise be to Allah—is to accept what we have set forth concerning this issue, including what we have previously mentioned, to accept Mujāhid’s report, and to refrain from opposing it or disputing in order to reject it. Allah alone grants success in every right course and gives aid in following it. A group has narrated it to us—
