109 — Abū Bakr Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Wāsitī narrated to us, saying: Zuhayr ibn Muhammad al-Marwazī narrated to us, saying: Ya‘lā ibn Ubayd informed us ⦗430⦘, saying: al-Hajjāj ibn Dīnār narrated to us, from Abū Ghālib, from Abū Umāmah—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said, “No people went astray after having been upon guidance except that they were given to disputation.” Then he recited: ‘They cited him to you only for argument’s sake. Rather, they are a contentious people.’ [al-Zukhruf: 58]
