1086 — We were also informed by Abu Bakr Ja‘far ibn Muhammad al-Firyābī, who said: Abd al-A‘lā ibn Hammād al-Narsī narrated to us, saying: Yazīd ibn Zuray‘ narrated to us, saying: Sa‘īd ibn Abī Arūba narrated to us, from Qatāda, who reported that Anas ibn Mālik informed them that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “While I was walking through Paradise, a river appeared before me. Along its two banks were domes made of hollow pearl. The angel said, ‘Do you know what this is? This is al-Kawthar, which your Lord has granted you.’ He then thrust his hand into its bed and brought forth musk from its clay.”
