1078 — Al-Firyābī also narrated to us: Qutayba ibn Saīd narrated to us: Al-Layth ibn Sad narrated to us, from Khālid ibn Yazīd, from Saīd ibn Abī Hilāl, from Anas ibn Mālik, who reported that the prophets were mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—whereupon he said: “By Him in whose hand is my soul, I am indeed the leader of mankind on the Day of Resurrection—and this is no boast. The Banner of Praise will indeed be in my hand; beneath it will be Adam and all those below him—and this is no boast.” ⦗1593⦘

Muhammad ibn al-Husayn—may Allah have mercy on him—said: If someone asks, “How may the Prophet’s words, ‘and this is no boast,’ be understood?” he should be told—and Allah knows best—that they may be understood as an expression of his humility—peace and blessings be upon him—before his gracious Lord and toward the believers. That is, “I am not boasting over you because of this; rather, I am telling you of the blessings that Allah, the Most Generous, has bestowed upon me,” for Allah, mighty and majestic, had said to him: “And proclaim the blessing of your Lord.” [al-Duhā: 11] Thus, he told them of the blessings that Allah, the Most Generous, had bestowed upon him.
