1067 – Abū Jafar Ahmad ibn Yahyā al-Hulwānī narrated to us, saying: Saīd ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, from Sulaymān ibn Kathīr, from Ibn Shihāb, from Saīd ibn al-Musayyib, from Jābir ibn Abdullāh, who said: “Before the pulpit was installed, the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—would deliver sermons beside the trunk of a palm tree. When the pulpit was installed and the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—ascended it, that trunk cried out in yearning until we heard ⦗1583⦘ its moaning. The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—then went to it and placed his hand upon it, whereupon it fell silent.”
