1059 — Abū Ahmad Hārūn ibn Yūsuf narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abī Umar—that is, Muhammad al-Adanī—narrated to us, saying: Abd Allah ibn Yazīd, Abū Abd al-Rahmān al-Muqri, narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahmān ibn Ziyād ibn Anam, one of the people of Egypt, narrated to us: Ziyād ibn Nuaym al-Hadramī ⦗1574⦘ narrated to us, saying: I heard Ziyād ibn al-Hārith al-Sudāī, a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), relate the following. He said:
“I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during one of his journeys. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) encamped at a place. When dawn broke, he went off to relieve himself. He then returned to me, by which time his Companions had caught up with him, and said, ‘Do you have any water, O brother of Sudā?’
“I replied, ‘Only a small amount that will not suffice you.’
“He said, ‘Put it in a vessel, then bring it to me.’
“I brought it to him, and he placed his palm in the vessel. I then saw a spring gushing forth between every two of his fingers. He said, ‘Were it not that I feel shy before my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, O brother of Sudā, we would have given water to others and drawn water for ourselves. Call out among my Companions: “Whoever needs water may come.”’
“So I called out among them, and whoever wished took some.”
