1050 — Abū Bakr Jafar ibn Muhammad al-Firyābī also narrated to us, saying: Qutayba ibn Saīd narrated to us, on the authority of Mālik ibn Anas, on the authority of Ishāq ibn Abd Allāh ibn Abī Talha, that he heard Anas ibn Mālik say:

Abū Talha said to Umm Sulaym, “I have heard weakness in the voice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I can tell that he is hungry. Do you have anything?” She replied, “Yes.” She brought out ⦗1564⦘ some round barley loaves, then took a head-covering of hers, wrapped the bread in half of it, and draped the other half over me. She then sent me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

He continued: I went and found the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the mosque with the people. I stood before them, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, “Did Abū Talha send you?” I replied, “Yes.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then said to those with him, “Rise.” He set out, and I went ahead of them until I reached Abū Talha and informed him.

Abū Talha said, “O Umm Sulaym, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has come, but we do not have enough food to feed them.” She replied, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” Abū Talha went out to meet the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Abū Talha proceeded together until they entered.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Bring me what you have, O Umm Sulaym.” She brought that bread, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that it be crumbled. Umm Sulaym squeezed a leather container of hers over it, thereby seasoning it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then said over it whatever Allah willed him to say. He then said, “Admit ten.” Ten were admitted, and they ate until they were full and then departed. He again said, “Admit ten.” They ate until they were full. He then said, “Admit ten.” The people ate until they were full, and there were seventy or eighty men in all.

١٠٥٠ - وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ , عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ , أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ لِأُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ: لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ صَوْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ضَعِيفًا أَعْرِفُ فِيهِ الْجُوعَ , فَهَلْ عِنْدَكِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ؟ قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ فَأَخْرَجَتْ ⦗١٥٦٤⦘ أَقْرَاصًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ ثُمَّ أَخَذَتْ خِمَارًا لَهَا فَلَفَّتِ الْخُبْزَ بِنِصْفِهِ وَرِدَاءٍ تَبِينُ بِنِصْفِهِ , ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَتْنِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: فَذَهَبْتُ فَوَجَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَمَعَهُ النَّاسُ فَقُمْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «أَبُو طَلْحَةَ أَرْسَلَكَ؟» فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِمَنْ مَعَهُ: «قُومُوا» قَالَ: فَانْطَلَقَ , وَانْطَلَقْتُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ حَتَّى جِئْتُ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ , فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ: يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ , قَدْ جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ , وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَنَا مِنَ الطَّعَامِ مَا نُطْعِمُهُمْ , فَقَالَتِ: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَانْطَلَقَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ حَتَّى لَقِيَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ , وَأَبُو طَلْحَةَ , حَتَّى دَخَلَا , فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «هَلُمِّي يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ , مَا عِنْدَكَ؟» فَأَتَتْ بِذَلِكَ الْخُبْزِ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ , فَفُتَّ , وَعَصَرَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ عُكَّةً لَهَا فَأَدَمَتْهُ فَقَالَ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ ثُمَّ قَالَ: «ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ» فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ , فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا , ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا , ثُمَّ قَالَ: «ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ» فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ قَالَ: «ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ» فَأَكَلَ الْقَوْمُ حَتَّى شَبِعُوا , وَالْقَوْمُ سَبْعُونَ أَوْ ثَمَانُونَ رَجُلًا
