1049 — Mūsā ibn Muhammad ibn Hārūn ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, saying: Al-Salt ibn Masūd al-Jahdarī narrated to us, saying: Sahl ibn Aslam narrated to us, saying: Yazīd ibn Abī Mansūr narrated to us, on the authority of Anas ibn Mālik, that Abū Talha saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) tying a stone against his stomach because of hunger. He went to his family and said, “O Umm Sulaym, could you prepare some food for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? I saw him tying a stone against his stomach because of hunger.” So I prepared something for him that ⦗1563⦘ al-Salt had mentioned. I then set out and invited the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said to the people of al-Suffa, “Rise.” Eighty men rose. Abū Talha said, “O Messenger of Allah, it is only a single loaf of barley bread that I prepared for you.” He said, “Have it brought.” The loaf was brought, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for it to be blessed. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and a group of his Companions ate until they were full; the members of the household also ate until they were full, and we gave some away as gifts.
