1042 — Abū Shuayb Abd Allah ibn al-Hasan al-Harrānī narrated to us, saying: My grandfather narrated to me, saying: Mūsā ibn Ayan narrated to us, from Atā ibn al-Sā’ib, from Abū Ja‘far, from his father, from Alī ibn Abī Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him), who reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I was granted five things that no one before me was granted: I was sent to the white, the black, and the red; the earth was made for me a place of prayer and a means of purification; I was granted victory through fear; spoils of war were made lawful for me—⦗1553⦘ though they had not been lawful for anyone before me; and I was granted concise, all-encompassing speech.”
