1039 — Al-Firyābī narrated to us, saying: Ubayd Allah ibn Umar al-Qawārīrī and Ishāq ibn Rāhawayh narrated to us; they both said: Muādh ibn Hishām narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, from Qatāda, from Abū Qilāba, from Khālid ibn al-Lajlāj, from Abd Allah ibn Abbās, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I saw my Lord—Glorious and Exalted is He—and He said, ‘O Muhammad, over what does the Highest Assembly dispute?’ I replied, ‘My Lord, over the deeds that expiate sins: walking on foot to the congregational prayers, completing ablution thoroughly under difficult conditions, and awaiting one prayer after another. Whoever consistently observes them will live in goodness, die in goodness, and be as free of sin as on the day his mother gave birth to him.’”
