1036 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abbād narrated to us, saying: Bakr ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishāq, who said: Yaqub ibn ⦗1545⦘ Utba ibn al-Mughīra ibn al-Akhnas narrated to me, from Ikrima, from Abd Allah ibn Abbās, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited these words of Umayya ibn Abī al-Salt al-Thaqafī:

[Long meter]

A man and a bull beneath His right foot;
At the other, an eagle, and a lion standing watch.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then said, “He spoke the truth.”
