1016 — Abū Bakr Qāsim ibn Zakariyyā al-Mutarriz narrated to us: Nasr ibn Alī narrated to us: Nūh ibn Qays al-Huddānī informed us: Khālid ibn Khālid narrated to us, from Yūsuf ibn Māzin, that a man asked Alī ibn Abī Tālib—may Allah be pleased with him—saying, “O Commander of the Faithful, describe the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—for us. Tell us what he looked like.” He replied:
“He was not excessively tall, though he was above ⦗1494⦘ medium height. When he came among a group, he rose above them all. He was fair-complexioned and remarkably radiant, with a large head, a luminous face, a clear brow, long eyelashes, and strong, broad hands and feet. When he walked, he lifted his feet firmly, as though descending a slope. The perspiration upon his face looked like pearls. I never saw anyone like him, either before or after him—peace and blessings be upon him.”
