999 — Abū Muhammad Banān ibn Ahmad al-Qattān narrated to us: Dāwūd ibn Rashīd narrated to us: Ibrāhīm ibn Bakr Abū Ishāq al-Shaybānī narrated to us: al-Masūdī narrated to me, from Salama ibn Kuhayl, from Saīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbās, concerning the words of Allah—Majestic is His Glory—: “We have sent you only as a mercy to all the worlds” [al-Anbiyā: 107]. He said: “Whoever believes in him and affirms his truth will receive mercy in full in this world and the Hereafter; and whoever does not believe in him or affirm his truth will not suffer what befell the nations: being swallowed by the earth, pelted with stones, and transformed.”
