994 — Abū Muhammad Yahyā ibn Muhammad ibn Sā‘id also narrated to us, saying: al-Rabī‘ ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, saying: Abd Allah ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abī al-Zinād and Mālik ibn Anas narrated to me, from Abū al-Zinād, from Abd al-Rahmān al-A‘raj, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “My likeness in relation to the prophets before me is that of a man who erected a building and made it beautiful and complete, except for the place of one brick in one of its corners. The people began walking around it, marveling at it and saying, ‘We have never seen a building more beautiful than this, were it not for the place of this brick.’ I was that brick.”
