987 — Abū Ahmad Hārūn ibn Yūsuf narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abī Umar al-Adanī narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to us, from Mujālid, from al-Sha'bī, from Abū Salama ibn Abd al-Rahmān, who said: I heard Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—say: “I saw the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—standing with his hand resting on the mane of a horse while speaking to Dihya al-Kalbī. I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I saw you standing with your hand resting on the mane of a horse while speaking to Dihya al-Kalbī.’ He asked, ‘Did you see him?’ I replied, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘That was Gabriel—peace be upon him—and he conveys his greetings of peace to you.’ I replied, ‘And upon him be peace, the mercy of Allah, and His blessings. May Allah reward him well as a companion and a guest. What an excellent companion and what an excellent guest!’”
