975 — Abū Muhammad Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Nājiya informed us, saying: Abd Allah ibn Sa‘d ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, saying: My paternal uncle Ya‘qūb narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, from al-Walīd ibn Kathīr, from Ibn Halhala, from Talha ibn Ubayd Allah al-Khuzā‘ī, who heard Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—say:
“We indeed find the description of Allah’s Messenger—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—in some of the scriptures: He is neither harsh nor coarse, nor clamorous in the marketplaces. When he hears an evil word, he does not fan it into flame; rather, he extinguishes it with his very gaze. I have given him keys with which to open blind eyes, cause deaf ears to hear, and straighten crooked tongues, until they testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.”
