960 — Abū Muhammad Abd Allah ibn Sālih al-Bukhārī informed us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abī Umar al-Adanī narrated to us, saying: Umar ibn Khālid narrated to me, saying: Abū Abd Allah Muhammad al-Halabī narrated to us, from Abd Allah ibn al-Furāt, from Uthmān ibn al-Dahhāk, from Ibn Abbās, who said:

“Quraysh was a light in the presence of Allah, Exalted is He, two thousand years before He created Adam. That light glorified Allah, and the angels glorified Him along with it. When Allah, Exalted is He, created Adam, He placed that light in his loins. The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—then said: ‘Allah, Exalted is He, sent me down to ⦗1420⦘ the earth in the loins of Adam, placed me in the loins of Noah aboard his Ark, and cast me into the Fire in the loins of Abraham—peace be upon him. Thereafter, He continued to transfer me from noble loins to pure wombs until He brought me forth from my parents, who had never once come together in an illicit union.’”
