950 — Abū Ahmad Hārūn ibn Yūsuf ibn Ziyād al-Tājir informed us, saying: Abū Marwān al-Uthmānī narrated to us, saying: My father, Uthmān ibn Khālid, narrated to me, from Abd al-Rahmān ibn Abī al-Zinād, from his father, who said: “Among the words by which Allah accepted Adam’s repentance—peace be upon him—was his saying, ‘O Allah, I ask You by the right that Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—has over You.’ Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said, ‘O Adam, how do you know of Muhammad?’ He replied, ‘My Lord, I raised my head and saw written upon Your Throne: “There is no deity worthy of worship but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” I therefore knew that he is the most honored of Your creation in Your sight.’”
