Likewise, the rulings governing all the obligations that Allah has prescribed in His Book can be known only through the Sunnahs of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him. This is the position of the Muslim scholars. Whoever says otherwise has departed from the religion of Islam and entered the creed of the heretics. We seek refuge in Allah from going astray after having been guided.

Reports conveying the same point that I have explained to you have been narrated from the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—and from his Companions—may Allah be pleased with them. Know this well.
