946 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Umar ibn Hafs ibn Yazīd al-Dimashqī narrated to us, saying: Al-Walīd ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Al-Awzāī narrated to us, saying: Yahyā ibn Abī Kathīr narrated to us, from Abū Salama, from Abū Hurayra, who said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was asked, “When was prophethood established for you?” He replied, “Between Adam’s creation and the breathing of the spirit into him.”
