if he divorced any of his wives—whether he had consummated the marriage with her or not—it became forbidden for anyone else to marry her, for they are the Mothers of the Believers. Thus, his gracious Lord distinguished him with every noble and exalted quality. He then commanded His creation to invoke blessings upon His Messenger—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and informed them that He and His angels invoke blessings upon him as an honor to him. He—majestic is His remembrance—said:

“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, invoke blessings upon him and greet him with complete greetings of peace.” [Al-Ahzāb: 56]

May Allah bless him and grant him peace, and all his household, by night and by day, with blessings that please him and bring us forgiveness and mercy from Allah, if Allah wills. May blessings also be upon his pure family. May Allah never deprive us of beholding him, and may He resurrect us adhering to his sunnah, following what he commanded, and refraining from what he prohibited.

Know—may Allah have mercy upon us and you—that if someone performs a prayer but does not invoke blessings upon the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—during its final tashahhud, he must repeat the prayer.
