in Allah and the Last Day. That is better and best in outcome.” [Al-Nisāʾ: 59]

And He—glorious and mighty—said: “O you who believe, obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him while you are listening.” [Al-Anfāl: 20]

And He—glorious and mighty—said: “O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and do not render your deeds void.” [Muhammad: 33]

Then He—glorious and mighty—said: “Whoever obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah.” [Al-Nisāʾ: 80]

Muhammad ibn al-Husayn—may Allah have mercy on him—said: This occurs frequently in the Quran. In thirty-odd places, He made obedience to His Messenger obligatory and coupled it with obedience to Himself—glorious and mighty. He then warned His creation against disobeying His Messenger—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and against treating the command of His Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—when he commanded them to do something or forbade them from something, as they would the commands of other people,
