932 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwud narrated to us. He said: Muhammad ibn Abd al-Malik ⦗1362⦘ ibn Zanjawayh narrated to us. He said: Abū al-Yamān narrated to us. He said: Ismāīl ibn Ayyāsh narrated to us, from Umāra ibn Ghaziyya, who heard Humayd ibn Ubayd, the client of Banū al-Muallā, say: I heard Thābit al-Bunānī narrate from Anas ibn Mālik, from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he asked Gabriel, peace be upon him, “Why have I never seen Michael laugh?” He replied, “Michael has not laughed since Hell was created.”
