921 — Abū Ahmad Hārūn ibn Yūsuf also narrated to us. He said: Ibn Abī Umar—meaning Muhammad al-Adanī—narrated to us. He said: Sufyān ibn Uyayna narrated to us, from Abū al-Zinād, from al-Araj, from Abū Hurayra, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:

“Hell and Paradise disputed with one another. Hell said, ‘The tyrants and the arrogant enter me,’ while Paradise said, ‘The weak and the destitute enter me.’ Allah, Mighty and Majestic, then said to Hell, ‘You are My punishment; through you I afflict whomever I will’—or perhaps he said, ‘Through you I punish whomever I will.’ He said to Paradise, ‘You are My mercy; through you I show mercy to whomever I will.’ Each of the two shall have its fill from Me.”
