913 — Al-Firyābī informed us. He said: Ishāq ibn Rāhawayh narrated to us and said: Al-Fadl ibn Mūsā informed us. He said: Muhammad ibn Amr narrated to us. He said: Abū Salama narrated to us, from Abū Hurayra, from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said:

“When Allah, mighty and exalted, created Paradise and Hell, He sent Gabriel (peace be upon him) to Paradise and said, ‘Look at it and at what I have prepared therein for its inhabitants.’ He looked at it, then returned to Him, exalted and majestic, and said, ‘By Your might, no one will hear of it ⦗1348⦘ without entering it.’ Allah then commanded that it be veiled by hardships and said, ‘Go and look at it.’ He looked at it and found that it had been veiled by hardships, so he said, ‘By Your might, I fear that no one will enter it.’

“Then He said, ‘Go and look at Hell and at what I have prepared therein for its inhabitants.’ He looked at it and found its parts surging over one another. He returned and said, ‘By Your might, no one will enter it.’ Allah then commanded that it be surrounded by desires and said, ‘Return to it.’ He returned, then said, ‘By Your might, I fear that no one will escape it, but that everyone will enter it.’”

914 — Al-Firyābī also informed us. He said: Wahb ibn Baqiyya narrated to us. He said: Khālid ibn Abd Allāh al-Wāsitī informed us, from Muhammad ibn Amr, from Abū Salama, from Abū Hurayra, who reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said . . . . . He then related the same report.
