84 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Habbān ibn Mūsā narrated to us, saying: Abd Allah ibn al-Mubārak informed us, from Sufyān al-Thawrī, from Jafar ibn Muhammad, from his father, from Jābir ibn Abd Allah, who said: In his sermon, the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—would say, “We praise Allah as befits Him.” Then ⦗399⦘ he would say, “Whomever Allah guides, none can lead astray; and whomever He leads astray, none can guide. The truest speech is the Book of Allah—Glorious and Exalted is He—and the finest guidance is the guidance of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The worst affairs are newly introduced matters; every newly introduced matter is a religious innovation, every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.”
