Al-Rida 'an Allah bi-Qada'ihIbn Abi al-Dunya

65 – Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to me, saying:

“There was a man in al-Maṣīṣa whose entire lower half had wasted away; nothing of him remained but the life that lingered in part of his body. Blind, he lay upon a perforated bed. A visitor came in and asked, ‘How are you this morning, Abū Muḥammad?’ He replied, ‘The sovereignty of this world is perishing and returning to Allah. I have no need of it save that He take my soul while I remain upon Islam.’”
