60 – Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah narrated to us. Hamzah also narrated to me; he said: ʿAbdan informed us; he said: ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Jarir ibn Hazim informed us; he said: I heard Humayd ibn Hilal relate; he said: Mutarrif told me:

“I once visited ʿImran ibn Husayn and said to him, ‘By Allah, I sometimes hold back from coming to see you because of what I observe you enduring and the hardship you face.’ He replied, ‘Do not do that, for by Allah, the condition dearest to me is the one that is dearest to Allah.’”

Jarir added: His abdomen had become swollen with fluid, and he spent thirty years lying on a bed bored through with holes.
