55 – al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Ḥamzah ibn al-ʿAbbās narrated to us; he said: ʿAbdān ibn ʿUthmān informed us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak informed us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Bujayr informed us; he said: Abū al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Shikhkhīr narrated to me—and he traced the report back to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—who said: “When Allah intends good for a servant, He makes him content with what He has apportioned to him and blesses it for him; but if He does not intend good for him, He neither grants him contentment with what has been allotted nor places blessing in it.”
