46 – Abu Saʿīd al-Madīnī narrated to us; he said: Ishāq ibn Muḥammad al-Farawī told me; he said: Mālik narrated to us, from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd, that ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz used to say, “These prayers have detached me from every concern; I now care for nothing except what falls within Allah’s decree.” He added that ʿUmar would frequently supplicate:
“O Allah, make me content with Your judgment and bless for me what You have decreed, so that I do not wish You to hasten what You have delayed, nor to delay what You have hastened.”
