105 – Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; he said, “ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us,” and Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq also related to me. He said: It was asked of one of the scholars, “By what means do the people of contentment attain their contentment?” He replied, “Through maʿrifa (direct knowledge of God), for contentment is but a branch from the branches of maʿrifa.”
