86 – al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥārith the Qur’an-reciter told me; he said: Sayyār narrated to us; he said: Jaʿfar narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn Maʿqil, from Wahb ibn Munabbih, who said:

“I found in the Zabūr (Psalms) of David, peace be upon him: ‘O David, do you know which of My servants are the best?’ He answered: ‘Those who are content with My judgment and My apportionment, and who praise Me for the favors I have bestowed upon them.’ And it says: ‘Do you know, O David, which of the believers enjoys the highest rank with Me? It is the one who is more joyful over what I grant him than he is distressed by what I withhold.’”
