80 – al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Ibrāhīm ibn Mūsā al-Muʾaddib narrated to me; he said: Maʿmar ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, from ʿAlī ibn Ṣāliḥ al-Bakkāʾ, who said:
“When Abraham—peace be upon him—laid his son down to slaughter him, the boy said, ‘Father, bind me firmly. I fear that if you catch sight of me while you are slaughtering me you may hesitate to fulfil your Lord’s command, or that if I look at you while you are slaughtering me I might not let you carry out your Lord’s command.’ So he turned him over onto his face. About this Allah says, ‘Then, when they had both submitted themselves and he laid him down on his forehead…’ (37:103).”
