73 – Al-Husayn narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: al-Hasan ibn al-Sabbah narrated to me; he said:
Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman Hatim al-Jurjani said: “It has reached me that Allah – exalted is He – has servants, yet some of them are higher in rank than others. I went to offer condolences to a man whose son had been killed by the Turks, and when he saw me he began to weep. I said, ‘What makes you weep when your son was killed in the path of Allah?’ He answered, ‘O Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman, do you think I am crying because he was killed? I am only weeping, wondering how pleased he was with Allah at the very moment the swords overtook him.’”
