75 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd related to us; al-Mubārak ibn Faḍālah narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan, who said that the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “When Allah intends good for a people, He entrusts their affairs to their forbearing ones and places their public wealth with their generous ones. But when He intends ill for a people, He turns their affairs over to their foolish ones and puts their public wealth in the hands of their miserly ones.”
