64 – Abū Saʿīd al-Madīnī narrated to us; he said: Ibn ʿĀʾishah recited to me:
No people, though of noble stock, will ever reach true fame
until they bend in humble grace, though honored be their name.
Reviled, their faces shine serene, unclouded by disgrace—
a pardoning born not of contempt but of majestic grace.
If called upon by a neighbor’s cry, they answer without delay,
in hardship riding bridled steeds, with saddles on display.
Veiled of face, each proves a man when war’s fierce clang is heard,
Their flashing blades seem loosed and driven straight toward the foe’s own head.
